Meet a Founder: Pam Cooper of Sodbuster

Seed Hatchery isn’t just about big ideas- it’s about driven, talented founders. We want you to get to know ours! Below is the second in an ongoing series of Meet a Founder profiles. Enjoy!

What inspired you to launch this particular startup?
Since Tom and I got married 6 years ago, we’ve searched for a way to work together. We finally came up with this idea after a series of my saying “there should be a way….” for several different ideas.

I’ve been a community volunteer for 20+ years, many times taking leadership roles. I saw firsthand how archaic their practices were in comparison with the things my CTO was creating.

We are thrilled to have this opportunity to play to both our strengths.

*SH Note: Pam and Tom are our first married co-founders!*

Alice Bailey — my great-grandma, namesake and Conestoga wagon pioneer

Favorite quote?
“Somebody has to go first” — was my mom teaching me to drive, but applies in a lot of situations

Who’s on your current playlist?
Adele

Favorite book?
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

Favorite film/s?
Henry V, anything Kenneth Branagh

***UPDATE*** Iteration trumps perfection, and pivots are necessary in every startup. When a guy like Scott Case tells you to change your company name to something with “Booster” in it, you listen — now rebranded to BOOSTERVILLE! We reinvented school fundraising by creating a mobile webpage supporters use to locate local merchants who donate a portion of their sale to the school. The supporter pays with our digital wallet, and the school raises money, the business keeps a lot of money, and we get some too. Buy local; fundraise local; boost local!
